The Ministry of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia has stated that at least 7,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) have been 100 per cent completed in construction. Deputy for Cooperative Business Development at the Ministry of Cooperatives, Panel Barus, said that this number is part of the 35,000 cooperatives currently under construction. “As of today, almost 7,000 have been completed, those that are 100 per cent finished across Indonesia,” said Panel Barus after delivering a public lecture at Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra in Medan on Thursday (30/4/2026). He stated that the physical construction of the Red and White Village Cooperatives is being intensified throughout Indonesia. Panel said that at least 30,000 physical constructions from the programme will be completed by August 2026 across Indonesia. “The President’s hope is that by August, 30,000 physical constructions must be finished across Indonesia. The hope is that the business operations can run so that it can be felt by the community,” he said. Therefore, he stated that the central government is encouraging all regions to accelerate the physical construction process to optimise the programme, including in North Sumatra. “North Sumatra has nearly 6,110 villages/sub-districts. The physical construction is ongoing. We have also conducted visits to various regions where construction is in progress,” he said.
