The legal counsel for a female graduate of the Ash-Sholihah Jonggrangan Islamic Boarding School in Sleman, who was a victim of rape by NH (also known as MNH), a son-in-law of a cleric at the school, has stated they are prepared to face a report filed by NH’s wife at the DIY Regional Police regarding alleged adultery.

“Based on our client’s statement from the interview, there were indeed chats, but they do not show mutual affection or feelings for one another. I would say that ‘mutual consent’ is merely an interpretation,” said the victim’s lawyer, Gusti Rian Saputra, when contacted by journalists on Thursday (24/9/2026).

Gusti stated that his team respects the report as it is an individual’s right, and they are prepared to accompany the victim if summoned for questioning by investigators at the DIY Regional Police.

“If evidence is presented, we are ready to be summoned and examined by the investigators, and we will accompany the victim to provide clarification regarding the interpretation of such evidence,” he said.

Gusti argued that the chat evidence between the victim and NH is weak. He noted that it is unlikely the victim would seek a relationship with NH, who is the son-in-law of a cleric and a father of five.

The lawyer also addressed initial statements from the boarding school following the emergence of the case, noting that the suspect had admitted to the rape.

“The suspect was interrogated at a location within the boarding school. When asked how many times he had done this, he admitted to twice. When asked how he did it, he admitted he used force against the victim,” he revealed.

“Our client has validated that she was forced, her mouth was covered, her neck was pressed, and she was restrained during the rape,” he added.

Despite the legal challenges, Gusti emphasised that they are prepared to undergo the legal process regarding the adultery allegations.

Suspect’s Wife Reports to DIY Regional Police

It was previously reported that BA (29), the daughter of a cleric at the Ash-Sholihah Jonggrangan Islamic Boarding School, reported her husband, NH, and a 21-year-old female graduate of the school to the police for alleged adultery. NH is currently being detained as a suspect in the rape case.

“The purpose of the report is to ensure this does not happen to others. As a victim herself, especially with five children, this is a pursuit of justice for our client,” said BA’s lawyer, Halimah Ginting, after filing the report at the DIY Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday (23/9/2026).

Halimah stated that BA had intended to report the suspects since discovering the matter in July 2026, but delayed the report due to her unstable psychological state following the incident.

The evidence included in the report consists of screenshots of direct messages (DM) between the suspect and the victim on Instagram, which BA captured on 4 July 2026. This discovery led to the exposure of the case.

According to Halimah, BA became suspicious when her husband’s WhatsApp application was locked. Eventually, she had the opportunity to view his phone and found the conversations.

“On 4 July, it was open. She saw it and took photos. There were DMs where they were engaging in sexual activity online via Instagram DMs,” Halimah explained.

“Furthermore, the chats included messages such as, ‘What if we get caught and I get pregnant?’ After the incident, a pregnancy test was conducted, and when questioned, both suspects admitted that the photographed DMs were authentic and that she is indeed pregnant,” she added.

The report is based on Article 411 of the New Criminal Code (KUHP) Number 1 of 2023. BA’s other lawyer, Safiuddin, noted that under the new code, individuals can be reported even if they are single, provided they are not minors.

“Under Article 411 of the New KUHP, and Article 150, since the individuals are aged 20-21 and are considered adults, both can be reported in an adultery case,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Ihsan, confirmed the report.

“We confirm that the DIY Regional Police received an official report from the complainant on 23 September 2026 regarding alleged adultery, and the report has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Directorate for further investigation,” Ihsan said in a written statement on Wednesday (23/9).

NH Designated as Suspect and Detained

As previously reported, NH (MNH) has been officially named a suspect for the alleged rape of his former student. The former student is currently pregnant.

The Head of the PPA Unit of the Sleman Police, Iptu Cahya Fitria, stated that MNH was detained immediately upon complying with the police summons.

“Regarding the arrest and detention, we did not perform a forced arrest. MNH came to fulfill our summons on Thursday, 17 September 2026, and is currently being held at the Sleman Police Detention Centre,” Cahya said during a press conference at the Sleman Police Headquarters on Friday (18/9).

Cahya added that the police initially received the report regarding the case on 7 September 2026.
