Rape victim files report
JAKARTA (JP): A young woman told police on Monday that she was raped on Saturday evening by two unidentified men at a house near the Senen bus terminal in Central Jakarta.
"They threatened me with a penknife. I had a headache at that time and was very afraid, but when I started to scream, they mugged me," Darwati, 19, a babysitter, told reporters at the Central Jakarta Police station.
Darwati said that the men accosted her as she was returning to her room in a boarding house near the bus terminal. She said the men took Rp 50,000 (US$7.5) from her purse and left her with only Rp 1,000.
Darwati said she was taken by force to an empty house by the men who allegedly took turns raping her before leaving her unconscious in the house.
Darwati of Ngawi, East Java, said a medical examination at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital had confirmed the rape as her vagina showed signs of trauma. "It's still bleeding," she said, adding that she was afraid and was at first ashamed to report the rape to police. (01)
