Ranu Regulo Camping Ground Temporarily Closed Due to Extreme Weather
The Great Hall of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) has officially temporarily closed tourism activities at Ranu Regulo Camping Ground. The closure has been implemented following anticipated extreme weather conditions expected throughout March 2026.
The announcement was formalised in letter number PG.1/T.8/TU/KSA.02.01/B/03/2026 issued on 8 March 2026.
In the announcement, it was explained that the closure decision was made after assessing weather conditions and taking into account advisories from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Additionally, warm sea surface temperatures in the Madura Strait have also contributed to atmospheric instability in the East Java region.
As a result of these conditions, tourist visits to the Ranu Regulo area have been completely closed until a yet-to-be-determined deadline.
The Great Hall of TNBTS explained that this measure was taken as a precautionary effort to prevent potential dangers to visitors.
Extreme weather has the potential to trigger various natural disaster risks such as heavy rainfall, landslides, fallen trees, and strong winds.
A rescheduling mechanism will be announced further ahead of confirmation of the tourism site’s reopening.
The Great Hall of TNBTS urged the public, tourists, and tourism service operators to pay attention to this announcement and comply with it in the interest of public safety.
