Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno stated that the synergy established with Bank Indonesia (BI) is capable of strengthening a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable film ecosystem. “At the same time, it opens up broader opportunities for the younger generation to create and contribute to the economy,” Rano said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. In line with this, the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for DKI Jakarta Province, Iwan Setiawan, explained that developing the film industry is an important part of driving new sources of inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Jakarta. “The film industry is not only a space for creative expression for the younger generation but also has a significant multiplier effect on other sectors, such as tourism, culinary, transportation, and hospitality,” Iwan stated. Therefore, he said, BI DKI is committed to continuing synergy with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) and various stakeholders in strengthening the creative economy ecosystem, including through the organisation of the “Jakarta Youth Film Festival”. In the future, the BI DKI Representative Office together with the Pemprov DKI is committed to intensifying synergy and expanding collaboration with various stakeholders. These efforts are aimed at accelerating the development of an inclusive and sustainable creative economy, while optimising the role of the film subsector as one of the main drivers of new economic growth in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Cinema Space Foundation outlined the progress of the “Jakarta Youth Film Festival” (JYFF) 2026, with a total of 178 film works registered in the Student and Student Competition Lens, and 64 proposals in the Jakarta Film Fund until the end of April 2026. This achievement reflects the great potential of Jakarta’s young creative talents that continues to grow and needs to be supported through cross-sector collaboration. JYFF 2026 is also seen as a strategic space for the younger generation to channel creativity, hone competencies, and strengthen an innovative and competitive creative economy ecosystem through the theme “Jakarta Our City”.
