Rano says construction of DKI Satpol PP office is delayed due to efficiency measures
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno admitted that plans to build an office for the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) had been designed and budgeted, but were delayed due to efficiency policies.
“It was actually already designed and budgeted, but it was hit by efficiency measures,” said Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno in Jakarta on Saturday.
In response to the request from Satpol PP Chief Satriadi Gunawan, who hopes his agency can have its own office, Rano said he had discussed this with DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
“Yesterday I spoke with the Governor, it seems we need to re-evaluate this issue. Especially since we want to become a global city,” Rano stated.
He expressed concern that Satpol PP personnel in the field lack adequate rest areas. However, as enforcers of regional regulations with significant field duties, the health of Satpol PP members is an important matter.
Rano was also surprised by the current condition of DKI Jakarta’s Satpol PP, which still does not have its own office. An agency as large as Satpol PP should have an adequate command headquarters (Mako) to support operations.
Previously, the Head of the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) of DKI Jakarta, Satriadi Gunawan, hoped that the Satpol PP of DKI Jakarta could have its own representative office to support performance and improve the working comfort of field personnel.
“So, Jakarta doesn’t have a Satpol PP office yet. We’re still sharing space in Block H, City Hall. On the 16th floor. Sometimes if there are visits from regions or areas, we still receive them at City Hall because we don’t have our own office,” Satriadi explained in Jakarta on Saturday.
According to him, the availability of a DKI Jakarta Satpol PP office is very important. Moreover, Jakarta is a global city and has been named the second safest city in ASEAN after Singapore.
For that reason, he hopes that in the future, DKI Jakarta’s Satpol PP can have an office to monitor the performance of its personnel, who currently number 5,000 people.
“We already have land in Cempaka Putih. I also conveyed yesterday that it is very urgent to be able to control our members. We have also proposed it to the Deputy Governor during the visit,” Satriadi clarified.
