Rano reiterates Jakarta as a home for diversity
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, emphasised that the Jakarta provincial government is committed to making Jakarta a common home that is safe, inclusive and comfortable for people of all religions, regardless of ethnicity or background.
To this end, the Jakarta Provincial Government is presenting a variety of grand religious celebrations to foster tolerance, starting with a Christmas Carol series during Christmas and continuing to the Gambir Expo Festival ahead of the New Year.
‘Hingga hari ini, di kawasan Bundaran HI masih berlangsung Jakarta Light Festival dalam rangka menyambut bulan suci Ramadan. Besok juga akan ada pawai ogoh-ogoh dalam rangka Hari Raya Nyepi,’ he said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
The event, which runs until 15 March 2026, brings contemporary illustrations and discussions in the creative field in a calm and reflective atmosphere.
Dozens of artworks by artists and creators will be freely accessible to the general public.
‘I, on behalf of the Jakarta provincial government, greatly appreciate the various creative activities organised in Jakarta. We feel together how these activities can bring happiness to the people,’ Rano said.
