Rano Karno to Lead Eid al-Fitr Prayer at DKI City Hall, KH Ma'ruf Amin as Preacher
Jakarta — Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno will lead Eid al-Fitr prayers in 2026 at Masjid Fatahillah, located in City Hall.
Rano disclosed that Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin will serve as the preacher for the occasion. “The preacher will be Vice President Ma’ruf Amin,” Rano said while addressing a joint breaking of the fast event with religious leaders, Islamic scholars and habaib (descendants of Prophet Muhammad) at City Hall on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
“The Governor will perform Eid prayers at Istiqlal [Mosque]. Afterwards, he will visit the palace,” he added.
Following the Eid prayer service, the Jakarta Provincial Government also plans to hold an open house at City Hall. However, members of the public have been asked to arrive after 11:00 am. “Tomorrow there may be an open house, scheduled for 11:00 am. If you wish to visit City Hall, we will only open the doors at 11:00 am. At 9:00 am, I apologise, we cannot receive visitors. The food is not yet ready,” Rano explained.
In addition, Rano confirmed that all public transportation managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government will be provided free of charge during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. He even encouraged religious leaders and the public to take advantage of the occasion to try out Jakarta’s public transportation.
“If you haven’t had a chance to ride the MRT, feel free to do so while it’s free. We’ve also invited people to ride the MRT together in large numbers so they can see what the facilities are like,” he said.
According to Rano, this policy is expected to provide comfort to residents celebrating Eid al-Fitr. “This also reflects Jakarta’s character as a city that is open to religious celebrations and cultural activities,” he added.
