Rano Karno says AI crucial for Jakarta SMEs to understand markets

Deputy Governor of Jakarta Rano Karno believes artificial intelligence (AI) technology is crucial to introduce to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to help them understand market demands.

“I have a team to discuss AI. I see this as a suitable place to conduct AI training for children, especially with the presence of SMEs,” Rano said during his visit to RT 11 RW 07 in Gandaria Utara, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Rano noted that AI can assist SMEs in identifying product market potential, including overseas markets, through collected data.

He cited shrimp chips as an example of a food product whose market potential can be analysed using AI technology.

“Where would shrimp chips sell well? The data is there,” he said.

Rano added that AI should be introduced early as technological advancements are inevitable.

Meanwhile, RT 11 RW 07 Gandaria Utara head Imam Basori stated that they are developing a digital-based “RT 11 Smart Warung” to support residents’ SMEs.

“Additionally, we already have RT 11 Smart. This is an RT 11 warung but digitally-based SMEs, which we will fully maximise for the community,” Imam said.

He hopes the digital SME development will help boost the local economy in the densely populated area.

“Hopefully, it will provide additional income for them,” he added.
