Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, has noted that the number of recipients of the Kartu Jakarta Mahasiswa Unggul (KJMU) continues to increase, from an initial 16,979 students in phase I to 16,920 students in phase II. According to him, the increase in KJMU recipients demonstrates the growing opportunities for Jakarta’s children to continue their education to higher education institutions, while strengthening the quality of human resources. “KJMU is not merely educational cost assistance, but a strategic step to prepare a young generation that excels academically, with integrity, and a spirit of service,” said Rano during the New Recipient Orientation Forum for KJMU Phase II of 2025 at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta on Friday. He stressed that KJMU is part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment to expanding access to higher education while preparing human resources capable of addressing future challenges. He also emphasised that KJMU not only focuses on financial assistance but also includes mentoring, guidance, and personal development for students to prepare them for the future. He further encouraged students to form forums as a means of communication and collaboration, which is expected to foster leadership, solidarity, and social awareness. Furthermore, he invited students to actively participate in community service activities so that the knowledge gained can provide tangible benefits. Rano hopes that the students will not only complete their studies but also be ready to make real contributions to society and Jakarta’s development. “Be role models who bring positive values, both in the campus environment and in the midst of society,” Rano stated.
