Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Rano Karno, along with officials from the South Jakarta Administrative City Government, conducted a community service activity to provide a new parking area near the Lebak Bulus MRT Depot in South Jakarta.

“The problem in this area has never been resolved. I have ordered that starting today, we carry out community service to tidy up this place, moving all motorcycles on the road inside,” said Rano in his speech during the community service at the Sarana Jaya-owned land in South Jakarta on Friday.

He stated that the land would soon be organised and built as a new and official parking area.

The new parking area is provided in response to residents’ complaints about the parking conditions in the Lebak Bulus MRT Depot area, which are suspected of encroaching on the roadway and disturbing passing motorists.

“With an organised parking area, it will be much safer, more comfortable, controlled, and not disrupt traffic. Hopefully, it can serve as an example for other areas,” Rano remarked.

During the community service activity, Rano joined in digging the soil to prepare the new parking area. He removed no-parking signs on the roadway and ensured that motorcycles still parked at the location were promptly moved to the provided parking area.

Previously, residents had complained about the parking in the Lebak Bulus MRT Depot area in South Jakarta, which was suspected of encroaching on the roadway and disturbing passing motorists.

Moreover, at the location, there were “P” (parking) signs indicating that the area was permitted for parking.

There were parking signs and posters notifying visitors that the parking area opens at 06:00 WIB and closes at 00:00 WIB.

Motorists were also reminded to double-lock their motorcycles as any damage or loss outside operating hours would not be the responsibility of the parking management.
