Rano Karno instructs Jakarta to assist Bekasi in handling KRL accident

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, has instructed officials within the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) to assist in handling the train collision incident in Bekasi. “I saw the incident in Bekasi on television and immediately that night I ordered Jakarta to help Bekasi,” said Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, in Jakarta on Tuesday. Rano even paid condolences at the home of Nuryati, a Central Jakarta resident who was one of the victims. “BNPB, then PMI, we also went to Bekasi, even some colleagues from the Fire Department went to Bekasi,” he said. Rano mentioned that out of the 14 fatalities, four were residents of DKI Jakarta. Besides Nuryati, another victim was a teacher living in Cikarang. As for Nuryati, Rano added, she was a dasawisma cadre as well as a mosquito larvae monitor (jumatik) in her residential area. “She is a jumatik cadre, already part of our family, a component of employees in the DKI Provincial Government. We will definitely provide assistance,” he said. Rano stated that the Jakarta Parks and City Forest Service (Tamhut) had assisted with the funeral procession for the victims, while the DKI Jakarta Baznas Bazis had provided aid in the form of compensation. He admitted to being shocked by the incident, which caused the women’s carriage at the rear of the KRL to be destroyed. Nevertheless, he added, the event is a calamity and must serve as a lesson.
