Rano Karno Instructs Bank Jakarta to Install ATMs in All Public Housing Blocks
Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno has instructed Bank Jakarta to install Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in all public housing blocks (rusun) owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government as part of an effort to expand access to banking services. “I have ordered the President Director of Bank Jakarta, all our public housing must have an ATM. Service to the community is far more important than merely calculating investment value,” Rano said during the inauguration of the Bank Jakarta Kebayoran Park Sub-Branch Office (KCP) in South Jakarta on Monday. He stated that the facility is necessary because some residents of public housing still face difficulties accessing banking services. The provision of banking services down to the residential environment is also in line with efforts to realise Jakarta as an inclusive global city. Rano emphasised that Bank Jakarta must not only be oriented towards business growth but must also carry out its role as a regional development bank that answers the needs of the community. The new branch office applies a ‘future branch’ concept built through three main transformations: changes to the service space to be more open and comfortable, simplification and digitalisation of business processes, and strengthening the service culture. Bank Jakarta President Director Agus Haryoto Widodo revealed that the office serves as a prototype for the bank’s new generation of branches. Rano expressed hope that the transformation of the regional bank would provide real benefits through easier access, fast service, and a comfortable transaction experience for the public. “I hope Bank Jakarta continues to strengthen innovation, maintain healthy governance, and improve service quality so that it is increasingly trusted by the community,” Rano said.
