Rano Karno Impressed by Lautze Mosque
**Jakarta** — "Lautze Mosque possesses a unique character with its distinctly dominant Chinese architecture," said Rano during the 1447 H/2026 Ramadan Safari at Lautze Mosque, Jakarta, on Saturday.
Rano paid special tribute to the figure of Haji Karim Oei, whose name has been preserved as the foundation managing the mosque. According to him, Karim Oei serves as a role model for Jakarta residents in terms of integrity and nationalism.
"Haji Karim Oei was known as a three-in-one figure. He was a successful businessman, a tenacious national fighter who resisted colonial rule, and a humble religious leader after converting to Islam. His spirit of inclusivity must remain alive in this mosque," he said.
"The Ramadan safari is conducted to strengthen ties between the regional government and the community, promote Islamic outreach, and directly absorb the aspirations of residents," he added.
On the occasion, he reminded the public to work together in preserving the environment and strengthening religious tolerance, including during Ramadan.
"Religious tolerance is one of the foundational teachings from our parents. We often do not know a person's religious background, yet we are united as the Indonesian nation. That is where we see collaboration within the diversity of Jakarta's community," said Rano.
