Rano Karno Hopes Danantara Will Fund Manggarai-Dukuh Atas LRT Project

The Jakarta Provincial Government intends to proceed with the Jakarta LRT project, extending the line from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. This 2.4 km project requires an additional investment of approximately Rp2.7 trillion.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno expressed his hope that Danantara could participate in this project. This follows a previous directive from President Prabowo for Danantara to assist the Jakarta Provincial Government in constructing new routes for the Jakarta LRT.

“As stated by the President, Jakarta belongs to the entire nation. With that consideration, we are involving Danantara, which has consolidated various State-Owned Enterprises into a robust investment vehicle,” Rano Karno stated in a written release on Tuesday (22/09/2026).

Rano hopes that Danantara will support the funding for the proposed extension of the LRT route from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. He believes that this route expansion will increase the number of passengers on the Jakarta LRT, which currently connects Kelapa Gading to Manggarai.

However, he emphasised that the goal of this network extension is not merely to increase passenger numbers, but also to provide reliable public services.

“Our primary focus is not solely on passenger volume. We want public transport to truly become the preferred choice for people across Jakarta,” he asserted.

Jakarta LRT Phase 1C spans approximately 2.4 kilometres. The line will bring Jakarta LRT services to Dukuh Atas, which serves as one of the strategic transport areas in the heart of the capital.

Dukuh Atas itself is a central integration and transit point for various modes of transport in Jakarta. The area hosts several transport services, including MRT Jakarta, the Airport Rail Link, KRL Commuter Line, LRT Jabodebek, and TransJakarta.

Dukuh Atas will also be connected to the Transport Hub managed by PT MRT Jakarta. Consequently, the presence of the Jakarta LRT in the area will expand intermodal connectivity for the public.

According to information from the Jakarta Provincial Government’s investment website, the Jakarta LRT Phase 1C Manggarai-Dukuh Atas project is expected to reach an average of 20,554 passengers. The project requires an investment value of approximately Rp2.9 trillion.

In terms of investment feasibility, the project is estimated to have an investment rate of return of 12.3%, a weighted average cost of capital (WACC) of 12.3%, and a payback period of 17 years.
