Rano Karno Guarantees Security Guard Who Reprimanded Alphard Driver at HI Roundabout Will Not Be Dismissed
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno has confirmed that the security guard who clashed with a Toyota Alphard driver for running a red light at the HI Roundabout will not be dismissed. Rano stated that the issue has been resolved. According to him, the most important thing now is to find out the source of the misunderstanding that occurred between the two parties. “Oh, it’s been answered, the problem has been resolved,” Rano said in the Sarinah area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (23/7/2026). When asked whether the problem was triggered by miscommunication, Rano hoped that this could soon be identified. “Yes, hopefully we can find out where the miscommunication lies,” he continued. Rano also denied rumours that the security guard would be sacked as a result of the incident. He guaranteed that the security officer would keep his job. “No, I guarantee he won’t be,” he stressed. The altercation between the Toyota Alphard driver and the security guard in the HI Roundabout area had previously gone viral on social media. The incident occurred after the Alphard driver allegedly ran a red light at the pedestrian crossing in front of Hotel Pullman and was reprimanded by the security officer. The reprimand then escalated into a verbal argument. “The driver ran a red light at the pedestrian crossing in front of Hotel Pullman,” said Menteng Metropolitan Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu when contacted on Wednesday (22/7). Braiel explained that the security guard reprimanded the Alphard driver by banging on the car window. The Alphard driver took offence, leading to the altercation. “The security guard then reprimanded the driver by banging on the car window. The driver did not accept the security officer’s actions and a verbal argument ensued,” he explained.
