Rano Karno Claims Flooding in Jakarta Handled in Under 2 Hours

Jakarta - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno has claimed that 88.1 per cent of flooding in Jakarta throughout 2025 was handled in less than two hours. The statement was delivered during the plenary session of the DKI Jakarta DPRD as part of the agenda to present the Governor of DKI Jakarta’s Accountability Report for the 2025 Fiscal Year at the DPRD DKI Jakarta Building on Monday (20/4/2026). “Flood handling in less than two hours reached 88.1 per cent,” said Rano on Monday. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also implemented several flood control measures. These efforts include increasing water storage capacity to 539,674 cubic metres, as well as dredging rivers at 2,334 points with a total volume of 919,173 cubic metres. In addition, coastal area protection has been carried out. 71.61 per cent of coastal areas in the Thousand Islands are said to be free from abrasion. “71.61 per cent of coastal areas in the Thousand Islands have been freed from abrasion,” he said. “These efforts are expected to enhance services to the public, particularly in addressing potential flooding and inundation,” stated Rano.
