Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno has approved the proposal to increase the personnel of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) DKI, which is currently still far from ideal. “Imagine, even the fire department needs 11,000 personnel. If Satpol PP requests 5,000, it might be possible, but it will be done gradually,” Rano said in Jakarta on Saturday. In response to the fact that 35 Satpol PP members died within a year, Rano stated that this also needs attention. For this reason, he assessed that adding Satpol PP personnel is necessary because the current number is still less than ideal, making their workload quite heavy and impacting their health conditions. Previously, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) DKI Jakarta proposed adding personnel with younger ages to reduce the workload of members in the field. Head of Satpol PP DKI Jakarta Satriadi Gunawan, in Jakarta on Saturday, said that ideally, one subdistrict needs 18 to 20 personnel so that the division of work can run more optimally. “However, the current condition is still far from that ideal standard,” he stated. The limitation in the number of personnel is a challenge faced by Satpol PP DKI Jakarta. He detailed that currently, in one subdistrict, there are only seven to 10 personnel. Yet, security and law enforcement operations run 24 hours a day. “With a three-shift system, the number of personnel per shift becomes very limited, thus impacting the high workload that each member must bear,” Satriadi explained. To date, he said, Satpol PP has 5,000 members, but the ideal number of personnel is 10,000 members. Therefore, he has submitted a request to increase the number of Satpol PP in the capital.
