JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The digital-based community security system ‘Si Jaga Warga’, implemented by residents of RT 11/RW 07 in Gandaria Utara, Kebayoran Baru subdistrict, South Jakarta, has received special appreciation from DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno.

The system recently won the Jakarta Provincial level environmental security (siskamling) competition.

According to Rano, the innovation created by RT 11 Head Imam Basori is worthy of replication by other areas in Jakarta, as it has proven effective in enhancing community security, particularly in residential areas and narrow alleyways.

‘If this system can be implemented in every alley, at least the area will be safe,’ Rano said during his visit to RT 11 on Wednesday (27/5/2026).

He also praised Jakarta residents for actively monitoring and communicating local conditions throughout his one-year term in office alongside Governor Pramono Anung.

‘We are grateful that during our one year in Jakarta, it is the community that is safeguarding the city. Soldiers and police are useless if Jakarta’s residents don’t care,’ he said.

Rano hopes the ‘Si Jaga Warga’ security system and innovation can serve as a model for other neighbourhoods in Jakarta.

He even asked Imam Basori if he is willing to share his experience and knowledge with other RT officials.

‘Hopefully this can be replicated, so Mr Basori is ready to conduct training? We will invite several neighbourhoods to implement this system,’ Rano said.

‘If it’s not available yet, we’ll think about it. We’ll seek CSR funding,’ he added.

During his meeting with RT 11 Gandaria Utara residents, Rano recalled the early production of the ‘Si Doel Anak Sekolahan’ television series in the early 1990s.

This was mentioned after he observed the residents’ unity in building a self-initiated technology-based security system.

‘When I first made ’Si Doel’, I didn’t have money. Even if I had money, it wouldn’t have been enough to produce six episodes,’ Rano said.
