Eid al-Adha 2026: Rano Karno attends prayers at City Hall, Jusuf Kalla at Al Azhar Mosque
Several officials and public figures performed Eid al-Adha prayers for 1447 Hijriah in Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May. Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno chose to perform the prayers at the DKI City Hall grounds. Meanwhile, the 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, performed the prayers at Al Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta. Detikcom reported that Rano Karno arrived at the venue around 6:30 AM WIB wearing a white koko shirt and black peci. He was accompanied by Jakarta Regional Secretary Uus Kuswanto and Governor’s Special Staff Coordinator Firdaus Ali. The City Hall grounds were packed with civil servants (ASN) and the general public, immersed in the solemnity of this year’s theme, ‘Selfless Sacrifice, Total Dedication in Service.’ At the event, Jakarta MUI Chairman Dr K.H. Muhammad Faiz Syukron Ma’mun delivered the sermon, while the prayer was led by DKI Provincial LPTQ Chairman K.H. Muhammad Ali HM. At the same time, a solemn atmosphere enveloped the Al Azhar Grand Mosque grounds. Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla arrived at 6:30 AM WIB wearing a grey suit, white shirt, green checkered sarong, and black peci. The widely known JK took his place in the front row alongside other national figures, including former Constitutional Court Chief Jimly Asshiddiqie and former PP Muhammadiyah Chairman Din Syamsuddin. The prayers at Al Azhar commenced precisely at 7:00 AM WIB, attended by thousands of worshippers spilling into the mosque courtyard. H. Agus Nur Qowim led the prayers, while Din Syamsuddin delivered the religious sermon following the congregational prayer.
