Rano hopes KJMU recipients excel not only academically
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, hopes that recipients of the Kartu Jakarta Mahasiswa Unggul (KJMU) not only excel academically but also possess strong character, leadership spirit, and social concern. “Education is an important instrument for breaking the chain of poverty as well as reducing social inequalities,” he said while attending the New Recipient Orientation Forum for KJMU Phase II of 2025 at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday. Recipients of KJMU are also expected to maintain academic achievements, complete studies on time, uphold integrity and ethics, and actively contribute to social activities and community service. On that occasion, Rano emphasised the importance of making the best use of the opportunity to obtain KJMU because there are still many other prospective students who have not had the chance to receive similar assistance. “Use this opportunity to study diligently, achieve excellence, and provide benefits to society. Moreover, the momentum towards Jakarta’s 500th anniversary is a challenge as well as an opportunity for the younger generation,” he said. The number of KJMU recipients for Phase II of 2025 reaches 16,920 students at various universities. Specifically at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, the number of KJMU recipients is recorded at 1,986 students, consisting of 290 new recipients and 1,696 continuing recipients. This achievement reflects the increasingly broad access to higher education for the children of Jakarta, while also serving as concrete evidence of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment to preparing superior human resources capable of competing globally.
