Rano Explains Why Danantara Will Assist in Further LRT Jakarta Development
Jakarta — The Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, stated that the reason the continued development of the Jakarta LRT (Lintas Raya Terpadgedu) will receive financial assistance from Danantara Indonesia is that the capital city belongs to all of Indonesia.
“As stated by the President, Jakarta does not only belong to Jakarta; Jakarta belongs to Indonesia. In this moment, we are inviting Danantara, as a State-Owned Enterprise that is now merging into a single great force,” said Rano after attending the 2026 National Transportation Day ceremony at Monas, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Rano noted that the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to continue the LRT project, including the integration of the Manggarai-Dukuh Atas route, which will connect several transport modes. “We have plans to continue several LRT lines. The most clearly visible is from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. If this occurs, the increase in passenger numbers will certainly be much higher,” he said.
According to Rano, the presence of the Jakarta LRT can provide more public transport options for the community, particularly within Jakarta.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto, during the inauguration of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT line on Wednesday (16/09), stated that Danantara Indonesia is obligated to assist the Jakarta Provincial Government in continuing the LRT project. “I believe Danantara must help. Because Jakarta does not only belong to those living in Jakarta; Jakarta belongs to the entire nation,” the President said.
The Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route spans 12.2 kilometres. The project is being constructed by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), a Jakarta-owned regional enterprise, using the Regional Budget (APBD). The investment for the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT development reached IDR 12.1 trillion.
A single train set can carry approximately 270 passengers and is targeted to serve up to 80,000 passengers per day. Support from Danantara is expected to strengthen the development of Jakarta’s public transport network while simultaneously improving connectivity within the Jabodetabek metropolitan area.
