Rano: Collaboration Key to Advancing Industry Amid Global Uncertainty
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno stated that collaboration between the government, workers, and business owners is key to advancing the industrial sector in facing various challenges, including the current global uncertainties. “I hope the synergy between workers, business owners, and the government continues to be strengthened. Amid global challenges, collaboration is the key to remaining resilient and able to move forward,” Rano said at the PDIP’s International Labour Day Commemoration 2026 with the theme “Pro-Worker Bull: Sovereign Workers, Independent Indonesia,” held at GOR Otista in East Jakarta on Sunday. At the event, Rano, who is also the PDIP Central Executive Board’s Head of Culture Division, conveyed that the spirit of workers’ struggle must continue to be upheld to this day amid global economic uncertainties. According to him, the moment serves as a reminder not to neglect workers’ rights because of their role as the backbone in maintaining the wheels of the national economy, particularly in Jakarta. The man familiarly known as Bang Doel reaffirmed his party’s and the regional government’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ welfare. “To date, more than 59,000 KPJ have been issued. The benefits are tangible, from free public transport access, food subsidies, to educational support for workers’ families,” he revealed. In addition, he detailed various other social safety nets such as KJP, KLJ, and health insurance through Jamkesjak, which are integrated to maintain workers’ purchasing power, especially for the provincial minimum wage group (UMP). Rano also advised that Labour Day commemorations should not merely stop at annual ceremonial activities but become spaces for constructive dialogue. “This Labour Day commemoration should become a space for dialogue to voice aspirations and strengthen the city’s economy together. Collaboration is the key to remaining resilient,” Rano emphasised.
