Rangkasbitung-Merak Commuter Line Service Limited to Cilegon Station During Idul Fitri 2026 Holiday Period
The Rangkasbitung-Merak Commuter Line service will only reach Cilegon Station to support traffic management in anticipation of congestion at Merak and Bakauheni Ferry Ports during the 2026 Idul Fitri holiday transport period.
Karina Amanda, VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, stated in a statement received in Lebak, Banten on Monday that the operational adjustment of the Rangkasbitung-Merak Commuter Line service has been implemented because there will be a surge in vehicle users (holiday travellers) entering Merak Ferry Port during the 2026 Idul Fitri transport period.
Consequently, KAI Commuter has adjusted the Merak Commuter Line service to terminate at Cilegon Station and return to Rangkasbitung Station from Friday, 13 to 20 March 2026.
Karina stated that the adjustment to the Merak Commuter Line service follows the results of a joint meeting held in the previous week.
As with previous years, passengers on the Merak Commuter Line travelling to Krenceng Station and Merak Station will be provided with connecting transport from Cilegon Station. The provision of connecting transport will be adjusted to match the arrival and departure times of the Merak Commuter Line at Cilegon Station.
Currently, the average daily passenger volume on the Merak Commuter Line is between 10,000 and 11,000 persons per day. Tickets for the Merak Commuter Line can be booked and purchased via the Access By KAI application from seven days (H-7) before the departure date through the application or direct purchase at ticket windows while tickets remain available.
KAI Commuter urges all passengers planning to use the Merak Commuter Line to adjust their travel times accordingly. “KAI Commuter also urges passengers to maintain good health during their journey, follow applicable regulations and guidance from officers, and look after their luggage and children accompanying them,” said Karina.
