Ramos to determine premier airport
Ramos to determine premier airport
MANILA (AFP): Philippine President Fidel Ramos is expected to
make a policy statement this week on the country's new
international airport, Bases Conversion Development Authority
(BCDA) chairman Victor Lim said yesterday.
The possibility that Clark International Airport will become
the country's premier airport remains alive until Ramos makes his
stand, Lim said.
Earlier, Emilio Osmena, chairman of the Presidential Committee
on Flagship Programs and Projects said the 1,620 hectare Clark
would only support the Manila international airport, where
facilities would be upgraded.
Clark, a former U.S. airbase, is 90 kilometers from Manila and
critics say the country cannot support two closely placed
international airports.
