Ramayana's 9-month profit rises 2.4%

JAKARTA: PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa, Indonesia's second-
largest retailer by sales, said profit in the nine months ended
Sept. 30 rose 2.4 percent to Rp 175.6 billion (US$17.3 million),
from Rp 171.5 billion a year earlier.

Sales in the period gained 16 percent to Rp 2.69 trillion,
from Rp 2.32 trillion a year earlier, the Jakarta-based company
said on Tuesday in a statement.

The company booked a foreign-exchange gain of Rp 32.8 billion
in the nine-month period, compared with Rp 21.8 billion a year
