Ramayana voted as favorite RI firm

JAKARTA (JP): Department store chain PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa was voted as investors' favorite Indonesian company according to the monthly financial magazine Asiamoney.

Investors participating in Asiamoney's Best Managed Companies Poll in Indonesia voted Ramayana as having the best management of financial accounts, the most reliable forecasts, best access to senior management, best investor relations, and best treatment of minority shareholders.

Following Ramayana were cigarette producers PT Gudang Garam and PT Hanjaya Mandala Sampoerna, consumer products manufacturer PT Unilever Indonesia, and automotive company PT Astra International.

The poll, conducted annually, was based on 258 responses from 214 institutions in the Asia-Pacific region including Japan and Australia, Europe, and the United States.

It invited investors to assess Asia-Pacific companies by region as well as by country.

Separately, Asiamoney also awarded state-owned PT Danareksa the "Deal of the Year from Indonesia" award for the sale of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA)'s 40 percent stake in PT Astra International to the Cycle & Carriage consortium. (tnt)
