Jakarta — Ramadhan 2026 has become an opportunity to strengthen social solidarity and concern for public health, particularly for residents affected by disasters in Aceh Tamiang district.

Flooding that struck several areas in the region previously caused thousands of households to be affected and disrupted community activities. In this recovery situation, food and health assistance have become essential needs for families still attempting to rebuild their daily lives.

Dr Mustakim, Head of the Aceh Tamiang District Health Office, stated that assistance provided to communities during Ramadhan offers tangible benefits to residents still undergoing recovery.

“The Ramadhan period is an appropriate time to strengthen social solidarity,” he said in a press statement on Tuesday (17/3/2026).

“Support such as this provides real benefits to communities whilst strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration in maintaining residents’ health,” Mustakim added.

The assistance includes provision of communal kitchens, breaking-of-fast meals, refreshments, and health support for thousands of beneficiaries observing Ramadhan amid the recovery process.

Mateus Ramidi, Dharma Dexa Manager at PT Dexa Medica, stated that the activity represents an effort to demonstrate care that can be directly felt by communities.

The distributed assistance is hoped to help residents meet basic needs during Ramadhan whilst strengthening the spirit of togetherness during the post-flood recovery period.

Beyond providing food assistance, the activity is also part of the Ramadhan Stimuno campaign that invites communities to maintain health whilst strengthening social concern through a sharing movement with disaster-affected residents.

The programme also involves various segments of local communities, ranging from volunteers to local organisations. The presence of communal kitchens and joint breaking-of-fast activities has created spaces of togetherness for residents undergoing recovery following the flooding.

The Aceh Tamiang District Government stated it has distributed stimulus assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs to 12,136 heads of household.

Aceh Tamiang Regent Armia Pahmi said in a press statement on Tuesday (10/3/2026) that the assistance was released in four stages.

“Stage I comprised 1,286 heads of household, stage II comprised 7,729 heads of household, stage III comprised 1,527 heads of household and stage IV comprised 5,954 heads of household,” he said.

The assistance consisted of IDR 3 million for household contents damage costs and IDR 5 million for economic recovery costs for each head of household.

Additionally, Housing Waiting Assistance of IDR 600,000 per month has been distributed to 1,933 heads of household.

Imam Suhery, Acting Head of the Aceh Tamiang Regional Disaster Management Agency, stated that temporary housing construction continues to be accelerated. A total of 1,771 temporary housing units are scattered across 25 locations, with 1,339 heads of household already occupying them.
