Ramadan Visit to Aceh: Head of the PRR Task Force, Tito, Inspects the Lives of Disaster Survivors
Kompas.com - A series of visits by the Head of the Acceleration Task Force for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) after the disaster in Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, to disaster-affected areas in Aceh during the early days of Ramadan, marked an important step to directly inspect the lives of disaster survivors in the region.
The Ramadan visit, which took place from 19-21 February 2026, aimed to monitor the condition of survivors during Ramadan while also directly confirming various aspects of the acceleration of rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Aceh.
Tito began his visit in Aceh Tamiang Regency to inspect the flood-affected area in Dusun Damai, Bundar Village, Karang Baru District, on Thursday, 19 February 2026.
During the inspection, he directly observed the progress of mud cleaning carried out by students from the Institute of Home Affairs (IPDN) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
On this occasion, he also listened to the aspirations of the community regarding urgent facilities for survivors, such as the availability of clean water.
In the afternoon, Tito continued his agenda with a joint iftar (breaking of the fast) with the community affected by the flood at the Danantara Temporary Housing Complex, Kampung Simpang Empat, Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh.
In his speech, Tito expressed his gratitude for being able to carry out the fasting month together with the community amidst the post-disaster recovery process.
After completing his agenda in Aceh Tamiang, Tito continued his journey to Aceh Timur Regency on Friday, 20 February 2026, to inspect and review the progress of post-disaster reconstruction in the region.
Tito began his activities with a congregational Subuh (dawn) prayer at the Darussalihin Mosque with the local community. In a solemn and familial atmosphere, he distributed community assistance from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the people of Aceh Timur.
The assistance was symbolically handed over to the Regent of Aceh Timur, Iskandar Usman Al-Farlaky, and representatives of the residents.
In the afternoon, Tito continued his working visit to Dusun Kareung, Buket Linteung Village, Langkahan District, North Aceh Regency, to meet with disaster survivors and inspect the plans for relocation and the construction of decent housing for residents affected by the flood.
He emphasised that the construction of temporary housing should be carried out immediately so that the community can live more comfortably while waiting for permanent housing.
