Ramadan-themed prompts on ChatGPT in Indonesia surge by 85 per cent, here's the most sought-after information

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — OpenAI recorded an 85 per cent increase in the use of prompts with Ramadan topics on the ChatGPT application by users in Indonesia in January 2026.

According to OpenAI, this increase shows that Indonesian people are now more strategic in using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to prepare plans for productivity and spiritual activities during the holy month.

“We see that ChatGPT has become a tool that makes it easier for users to make decisions during the holy month,” said Head of Communications for OpenAI Southeast Asia, Grace Chua, in a press release on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Specifically, Grace mentioned that prompts that are frequently used by users in Indonesia relate to instructions or tips, such as “practical ways” or “how to”.

In the lead-up to Ramadan, these two prompts are widely used to obtain information about preparing healthy suhoor and iftar menus, business ideas, and ways to increase business profits during Ramadan.

To improve the effectiveness of using AI tools such as ChatGPT in planning activities during Ramadan, OpenAI has shared some practical tips on preparing AI prompts.
