Ramadan Safari, Vice President Urges Pesantren to Become Centres for Economic Growth and Innovation

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming visited Pesantren Al Hamid in Cilangkap, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (03/03/2026) as part of Ramadan Safari. During the visit, the Vice President met with the Pengasuh Pesantren Al Hamid K.H. Lukman Hakim Hamid, the pesantren’s leadership, and the santri. The Vice President emphasised the importance of santri in answering the challenges of the era, especially amid rapid technological progress. ‘In the era of rapid technological advancement, we want pesantren to produce santri who master technology, in fields such as modern agriculture, modern livestock farming, robotics, blockchain, and AI,’ the Vice President said. The Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment under President Prabowo Subianto to making pesantren an important part of the national development agenda. According to the Vice President, modern santri must be a generation not only to uphold the nation’s morals but to be motors of progress. ‘Santri must be able to create opportunities, be pioneers of innovation that create solutions, and be part of change, without losing the identity and akhlak values that have long been attached to santri,’ he said.
