Ramadan Safari: Sorong Mayor and Deputy Mayor Hand Over Aid to Nurul Hikmah Mosque
The Sorong City Government carried out a Ramadan Safari led directly by the Mayor of Sorong, Septinus Lobat, S.H., M.PA., and the Deputy Mayor, H. Anshar Karim A.Md., at Nurul Hikmah Mosque, Kampung Salak, Sorong City, Southwest Papua (PBD), on Wednesday, 4 March 2016.
The event was attended by several officials from the Sorong City Government, including the Head of BPBD, Head of the Department of Labour, Head of Health, Head of Trade, Head of P3A, Head of Social Affairs, the Head of the Welfare and Religion Bureau (Kabag Kesra), the Head of Protocol Bureau, and local worshippers.
In his speech, the Mayor said the Ramadan Safari is a form of attention and support from the Sorong City Government to the community during the fasting month. “Every year the Sorong City Government carries out the Ramadan Safari to greet the community directly and provide support to those who observe the fast,” he said.
Previously, the Deputy Mayor stated that the Ramadan Safari is a routine agenda of the Sorong City Government aimed at strengthening ties of friendship between the government and the community, especially the worshippers of Nurul Hikmah Mosque. “Ramadan is a blessed month, during which every act of worship is multiplied by the Almighty God. Let us use this Ramadan moment to strengthen the ties of friendship and together build the city of Sorong we love into a city that is progressive, clean, green, safe, and prosperous,” he said.
At the end of the programme, the Sorong City Government handed over assistance to the management of Nurul Hikmah Mosque in the form of cash amounting to Rp10,000,000 and 300 kg of rice. The aid is expected to support religious activities and help the needs of worshippers during Ramadan.
The event took place in an atmosphere of togetherness and reverence, and received a positive response from the local community.
