Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI) has distributed aid to communities affected by floods and landslides in several areas of Sumatra through the humanitarian programme titled ‘Ramadhan Ceria: Synergy of Harmony’. KNPI General Chairman Haris Pertama said the Ramadan Safari activity is a form of youth concern for communities facing natural disaster impacts. ‘Ramadhan is the month that teaches us to support each other,’ Haris said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. The KNPI Ramadan Safari began in Aceh on 4-5 March 2026. In the event, KNPI distributed around 1,000 aid packages to affected communities, particularly children and families who are struggling as a result of the disasters. The activity will continue in West Sumatra, which has also experienced floods and landslides in several areas. ‘KNPI is not only delivering aid, but also delivering the message that the communities affected by the disaster are not alone in facing this situation,’ he said. He stressed that young people should not merely be spectators when communities face hardship, but must be part of the solution. ‘Indonesian youth must be at the forefront in building social solidarity, especially when communities face disasters,’ he added. Haris added that the spirit of concern for disaster victims was also demonstrated by President Prabowo Subianto, who has repeatedly visited affected areas in Sumatra. Through this Ramadan Safari, KNPI hopes to foster optimism and a sense of togetherness among communities affected by the disaster and strengthen the role of youth as a social force responsive to humanitarian issues. ‘May this Ramadan be a moment to strengthen our shared concerns. When empathy and mutual aid are present, communities will be stronger to rise again,’ Haris said.
