Ramadan Safari in Cirebon: Saan Pushes to Strengthen NasDem-Pesantren Synergy
The NasDem Party’s Central Executive Board (DPP) held its 2026 Ramadan Safari programme at Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Muta’alimin in Babakan Village, Ciwaringin Sub-district, Cirebon Regency. The event was attended personally by NasDem Deputy Chairman and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa.
Saan was warmly received by the boarding school’s administrators, community leaders, and hundreds of male and female students. In his address, Saan said he was moved by the welcome he received, describing his visit to Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Muta’alimin not merely as a political agenda but as part of a long-standing relationship.
“This is an extraordinary and deeply meaningful reception. I feel as though I am coming home,” he said on Sunday (22 February 2026).
Saan also praised the boarding school, which has been in operation since the early days of Indonesian independence. He said its longevity was proof of the pesantren’s consistency in producing generations of people with strong moral character who contribute to the nation.
“With such a mature age, this pesantren has produced many high-quality graduates. In fact, several NasDem Party cadres who have served as members of the national House of Representatives and the West Java Provincial Legislative Council are alumni of this institution,” he explained.
He assessed that pesantren play a highly strategic role in human resource development, particularly in shaping character, integrity, and national values amid contemporary challenges.
“Islamic boarding schools are extremely strategic because they have consistently produced individuals with strong Indonesian national values,” he said.
Saan expressed hope that collaboration between the NasDem Party and the pesantren community could be further strengthened through ongoing communication and synergy.
“Thank God we are able to reconnect today. I hope that going forward we will continue to collaborate and build communication to develop various forms of potential, for the benefit of the people and the nation,” he concluded.
He reiterated that the Ramadan Safari programme is part of NasDem’s commitment to maintaining a presence within society, whilst strengthening ties with religious educational institutions that have long served as important pillars of social and national life in Indonesia.
