Ramadan: North Jakarta Applies Stickers to Tourism Businesses to Mark Operating Status
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The North Jakarta Municipal Government, through the Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-department (Sudin Parekraf), will affix stickers to all tourism businesses during the month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
"We will place stickers on all business premises — stickers indicating those permitted to operate and those not permitted to operate throughout Ramadan. There are 952 tourism businesses in North Jakarta," said Sanyoto, Head of the Tourism Industry Section at the North Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-department, in Jakarta on Saturday.
He said green stickers would be placed on tourism businesses permitted to operate throughout Ramadan, whilst red stickers would be applied to premises not allowed to operate.
"The stickering will be carried out in stages together with a joint team," he said.
The 952 tourism businesses spread across North Jakarta comprise 52 star-rated and budget hotels, 669 restaurants, 16 karaoke venues, 134 bars or alcoholic beverage establishments, 32 spas, and 49 massage parlours.
"In North Jakarta, the highest concentration is in the Kelapa Gading and Penjaringan sub-districts," Sanyoto said.
The Sub-department has already coordinated with village and sub-district heads regarding the socialisation of regulations prohibiting certain tourism businesses from operating during Ramadan, and has begun applying the stickers.
According to Sanyoto, should any business operators be found in violation, his office would take enforcement action in accordance with existing regulations, starting with a first written warning (SP-1), followed by SP-2 and SP-3.
"These are given over seven days, five days, and three days respectively. If they continue to violate, their licence will be temporarily suspended. If violations persist, their operating licence may be revoked," he said.
