Lippo Malls Indonesia (LMI) is inviting more than 2,000 orphaned children to participate in ngabuburit (pre-iftar) activities at 22 shopping centres throughout the holy month of Ramadan. This activity forms part of the broader “Berkah Ramadan” (Blessed Ramadan) programme being held across more than 40 malls managed by LMI.

The “Ngabuburit Asyik” (Engaging Pre-Iftar) initiative features various recreational activities for children in the lead-up to iftar (breaking of the fast). The activities are conducted in collaboration with children’s play facilities from the Playtopia group and several family entertainment tenants at the shopping centres.

LMI’s Chief Marketing Officer, Santiwati Basuki, stated that the activities are expected to create a more meaningful Ramadan experience for the children. She explained that through the programme, children not only participate in communal iftar meals but also enjoy entertaining activities. The programme also represents collaboration between shopping centre operators, family entertainment retailers, and social organisations in fostering togetherness during Ramadan.

Overall, approximately 3,000 orphaned children are participating in communal iftar activities as part of LMI’s “Berkah Ramadan” programme across various shopping centres.

Beyond the ngabuburit activities, LMI is also establishing Zakat Counters at 22 shopping centres to facilitate residents in performing zakat, infaq, and sadaqah donations. Eleven of these counters operate in partnership with the National Zakat Collection Agency.

The zakat counters are located at various shopping centres including Lippo Plaza Ekalokasari, Cibubur Junction, Lippo Mall Nusantara, Lippo Mall Kemang, Lippo Mall Puri, Lippo Mall Kuta, Plaza Pekalongan, Sun Plaza, Mall of Serang, Lippo Plaza Sidoarjo, and Lippo Plaza Palangka Raya.

LMI is also collaborating with several other social organisations, including Dompet Dhuafa, Daarul Quran, Yatim Mandiri, Baitulmaal Muamalat, Baitul Maal Hidayatullah, and Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia.
