Ramadan Iftar and Charitable Giving at Sumber Barokah Pesantren with Orphans and Local Residents

Held at the Sumber Barokah Pesantren in Karawang, a buka bersama (iftar) gathering and charity to orphans and the underprivileged in the surrounding community yesterday received praise and support from Forkopimda (the forum of regional security and local government leaders) and local religious figures. Attending were the Karawang Regency Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) head, Dr KH Sopian, accompanied by the head of the Kemenag Karawang Office’s Pontren unit and colleagues, the Secretary General of MUI Karawang KH Asep Najaruddin, MA, the head of the Kesbangpol Agency, representatives of the Karawang Police, and the Muspika officials. Also present were the Chairmen of Muhammadiyah Karawang and NU Karawang, the leaders of Pesantren PP. Miftahul Jannah, PP. Al-Ridwan, PP. Al-Mujarin, and other community figures. In the opening remarks, the leader of Sumber Barokah Pesantren, Ir. H. Mustaghfirin, stated that during Ramadan they routinely provide assistance to orphans and the poor from the surrounding community. “There are around 500 Ramadan packages of basic foods along with pocket money that we distribute to those who deserve it each Ramadan so they can feel what we feel in this blessed month,” Mustaghfirin said. According to Mustaghfirin, this activity serves as a moment to strengthen ties and to nurture social care for others, especially orphans and the poor. “Thus it is hoped to relieve their burdens and help our fellow brothers and sisters share in the happiness of welcoming Ramadan 1447 H,” he added. The Karawang Kemenag head, KH Sopian, in his remarks praised the activity of Sumber Barokah Pesantren, which each year routinely carries out the provision of aid to orphans and the poor. “I commend Ponpes Sumber Barokah; this shows that the pesantren and LDII are open to the community. Therefore we will continue to move, keep up Ukhuwah Islamiyah and this silaturahim as well as possible,” he stated. Echoing the Kemenag head, Pontren Section Head H. Dadang Hamidi hoped that Sumber Barokah Pesantren would continue to advance and carry out similar activities. The event concluded with a religious lecture by the MUI Karawang Secretary General Drs. KH Asep Najaruddin, followed by prayers and a convivial buka puasa together.
