The month of Ramadan has always been a time for reflection and deepening the meaning of worship. As times change, the ways in which these values are conveyed have also adapted to society’s habits in the digital space.

Through this approach, detikcom is presenting Ramadan religious studies in a different format — within the Roblox virtual world, in partnership with Pegadaian. The platform, typically used for gaming and exploration, has been transformed into an interactive study space without abandoning the essence of Ramadan.

Rather than simply sitting and watching an online lecture, participants are invited to enter a mosque-themed map and explore it. During their time inside, various activities are available whilst waiting for the study session to begin.

One such activity involves collecting coins scattered around the mosque area using a Time Attack system. Participants must move quickly within a set timeframe to reach the coin target, which can then be exchanged for a special outfit required to attend the study session within the map.

The exploration experience is made more exciting by virtual “gold” hidden at various points. Participants who find it can share the moment via Instagram Story and save it to their Story Highlights. Each week, ten of the best posts will be selected to receive an e-wallet worth Rp 200,000 and a gold savings account from Pegadaian.

Although packaged with gaming elements, the programme’s primary focus remains on Ramadan religious studies. Four study sessions will cover themes close to everyday life, ranging from the meaning of endeavour and future planning, the importance of consistency in doing good, to reflections on blessings in every step taken.

This collaboration demonstrates that digital spaces are not solely about entertainment. When utilised appropriately, virtual worlds can also serve as learning and reflection spaces that are relevant to the younger generation.
