Ramadan Fun Night Run in South Jakarta Limited to 200 Participants, 100-Metre Course

South Jakarta Metropolitan Police facilitated a night-time fun run during Ramadan in the Pesanggrahan area of South Jakarta. The target number of participants for the event is 200. ‘Our target is around 200 participants,’ said Pesanggrahan Police Chief Kompol Seala Syah Alam to reporters on Thursday (5 March 2026). The event, intended to accommodate enthusiasts and to prevent illegal street racing, will be held on Jalan Taman Bintaro Barat, Pesanggrahan. Interested participants can register directly at the venue. ‘Yes, on-the-spot registration. The run is 100 metres,’ he explained. Seala said those wishing to register could come to the Secretariat which will be opened at Taman Bintaro. Registration opens from 22:00 to 00:00. ‘Why are we holding it at that hour? Because that is a vulnerable time for such actions. At that time, at 01:00 in the morning, we will ceremonially start the running race,’ he said. He explained the running categories are for ages 19 to 25. The reason is that there was also a university student detained by police. ‘But because last night we detained a university student, we added the age range 19 to 25, like that,’ he said. ‘Initially it was only for children, but it turned out there were university students as well. So we added that category,’ he added.
