Ramadan Economic Stimulus: 90% of Social Assistance Distributed, Including to Sumatra
Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, stated that the distribution of regular social assistance in the first quarter of 2026 is ongoing. As of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the realization of regular social assistance distribution has reached 90 percent nationally.
“Alhamdulillah, the process of distributing regular social assistance is continuing, and now it has exceeded 90 percent nationally, for both the Family Hope Program (PKH) and the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) or food aid,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Meanwhile, to support the recovery and economic stimulus process in disaster-affected areas such as Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, the Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed PKH and food aid to 1.7 million beneficiary families (KPM) with a value of Rp 1.8 trillion.
“Regular social assistance for these three provinces was provided to 1,763,038 beneficiary families, with a budget value of Rp 1.8 trillion,” he said.
In addition to regular social assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributes adaptive or disaster social assistance in these three provinces. This includes logistical assistance and public kitchens, death and injury compensation, living assistance (Jadup), and economic recovery assistance for communities affected by disasters.
In detail, inheritance compensation for victims who died has been distributed to 990 heirs, with a value of more than Rp 14 billion. “And this continues, whenever there is a letter, after the heirs are found, we immediately distribute it to the three provinces of Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra,” he added.
Then, during the rehabilitation and reconstruction period after the Sumatra disaster, the Ministry of Social Affairs distributed living assistance to 175,211 beneficiaries, worth Rp 450,000 per person for 3 months.
“The value is more than Rp 238 billion, and this has started the distribution process, because of course the beneficiaries have been verified. Starting from proposals from local governments and signed by the Minister of Home Affairs as Chairman of the Task Force for Acceleration of Reconstruction and Rehabilitation. Then we start distributing it gradually through PT POS and also BSI,” explained Gus Ipul.
Furthermore, house filling assistance has been distributed to more than 47,000 KPM, with a value of more than Rp 143 billion. Each family receives house filling assistance of Rp 3 million.
“Then there is compensation for housing. Both in temporary shelters or in permanent housing, and of course also for those who rent or participate in the temporary housing assistance program,” he said.
Finally, as part of the socio-economic stimulus, the Ministry of Social Affairs is distributing assistance to more than 47,000 KPM, with a value of more than Rp 238 billion. Each family receives socio-economic stimulus assistance of Rp 5 million.
“In total, the adaptive social assistance that we distributed in this first phase is Rp 632.8 billion. So this is for the first phase of adaptive social assistance in the three provinces,” Gus Ipul concluded.
