Ramadan is not only being utilised to strengthen communal bonds and increase care for one another, but also serves as an occasion to expand discussions on the role of youth in national development.

This emerged during a joint iftar dinner with orphans and a youth discussion forum (“Ngabuburit Diskusi Kepemudaan”) organised by the Central Board of the Youth Renewal Movement of Indonesia (AMPI) at the Syajaratun Thayyibah Mosque within the Golkar Party Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The event was attended by hundreds of orphans alongside senior AMPI officials, including General Chair Jerry Sambuaga, Secretary General Robi Anugrah Marpaung, and General Treasurer Kevin Tandra. Also present were Golkar Party Secretary General M Sarmuji, Chair of Commission X of the House of Representatives Hetifah Sjaifudian, Golkar Party Chair Fahd Arafid, House Member Ranny Fahd Arafiq, Golkar Research and Development Chair Yuddy Chrisnandi, and Sri Suparni Bahlil, the wife of Golkar’s General Chair, who joined via video call.

Golkar Party Secretary General M Sarmuji commended AMPI under Jerry Sambuaga’s leadership for organising the iftar event coupled with assistance to hundreds of orphans and support for the Golkar Party Central Board Mosque. “May this activity benefit our fellow citizens, particularly in this blessed month of Ramadan,” Sarmuji said.

Sri Suparni Bahlil, who also greeted hundreds of orphans, expressed hope that the joint iftar dinner and assistance to the orphans and the party mosque would be blessed. “God willing, may it be blessed,” she stated.

AMPI General Chair Jerry Sambuaga said the activity forms part of a series of Ramadan programmes initiated by AMPI’s central board to strengthen brotherhood and reinforce youth’s role in national life.

“This iftar is part of AMPI’s activities as Ramadan draws to a close, and serves as a symbol of social care for one another and blessing in this holy month. It also reflects the directive of Golkar General Chair Bahlil Lahadalia that we must remain close to and always stand with the people,” Jerry explained.

Through this activity, he said, AMPI hopes to provide a space for constructive dialogue among young people from various organisational backgrounds, whilst strengthening the spirit of unity within the framework of national identity throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Religious preacher Ahmad Yani Panjaitan, who delivered a sermon at the event, commended the Golkar Party under General Chair Bahlil Lahadalia’s leadership for its commitment to improving people’s welfare. “As Party General Chair and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, he demonstrates a clear track record of being an individual who provides extraordinary dedication and service to society, nation, and country,” Ahmad Yani, who also chairs the Religious Affairs Division of the MKGR civic organisation, concluded.

The programme delivered tangible impact through support to more than 1,500 beneficiaries, assistance to 11 mosques and prayer halls, and empowerment of 4 local small and medium enterprises.

This year, assistance was provided to Islamic boarding school students and orphans under the auspices of the Al Barkah Foundation, Marhamatur Ridho Foundation, and the Al Hamd Tahfidz House Islamic Boarding School.
