An iftar event for 1,000 orphans was held as part of a commitment to share happiness and strengthen social care during the holy month of Ramadan. The event was organised by PT Adaro Andalan Indonesia Tbk and PT Alamtri Resources Indonesia Tbk at the At-Thohir Mosque, Cimanggis, Depok, on Friday, 6 March. The event was attended by management and staff from both companies. In addition to being a moment for breaking bread together, the event was also intended to reinforce social ties and provide moral support for the orphans who are expected to become part of the generation that will lead Indonesia Emas 2045. Garibaldi ‘Boy’ Thohir, the Supervisory Board member of Yayasan Amanah Bangun Negeri (YABN) and Deputy President Commissioner of PT Alamtri Resources Indonesia Tbk, said the event is a form of gratitude and a commitment to share in Ramadan. ‘We are holding this iftar with 1,000 orphans as a manifestation of gratitude and sharing happiness in the blessed month. Ramadan teaches us to feel what they feel. Through this togetherness, we hope to instill spirit and hope so that the orphans can continue to believe in their dreams,’ he said in a written statement. He added that the event also represents support for the government’s efforts to prepare a resilient future generation. The event, which has been held since 2011, is now entering its 14th year. In its implementation, the event is packaged as a culinary festival and filled with a talk by Ustadz Hilman Fauzi. In addition, all the orphans present also received donations as part of the social activities. Previously, the two companies had consistently run various social programmes to support human resource development, especially for children in the operational areas of the companies. Some of these programmes include PAUD Berkarakter, distribution of 10,000 school uniform packages, and a nutrition enhancement programme for PAUD pupils through healthy and balanced meals at school. The programmes are run under the coordination of Yayasan Amanah Bangun Negeri (YABN) as part of a sustainable effort to support the development of smart, characterful, and well-behaved human resources. Through these various social activities, the collaboration between the two companies is hoped to provide tangible benefits to the community and support the achievement of national development goals.
