Ramadan becomes a moment of introspection for Ministry of Home Affairs staff and regional food stability
Jakarta — Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian has urged all staff within the Ministry of Home Affairs to use the holy month of Ramadan as a moment for contemplation, self-reflection, and to reinforce commitment to serving the public. The appeal was made when Tito attended a breaking of the fast gathering with Ministry staff in Jakarta. He expressed hope that Ramadan would not merely be an annual religious routine but would be used to improve oneself and enhance the quality of public service.
‘I have only one wish for you all: may we, in this holy month of Ramadan, truly use it to improve and introspect ourselves,’ Tito said. He also expressed gratitude that all staff of the Ministry remain healthy enough to observe Ramadan devoutly. He said such gratitude must be manifested through work conducted with integrity and responsibility.
Tito stressed that the Ministry of Home Affairs plays a strategic role in national governance, particularly as the custodian and supervisor of local government administration. The ministry also bears a major responsibility in speeding up the reconstruction and rehabilitation after disasters in Sumatra, and in coordinating various efforts to manage regional inflation.
These tasks, he said, require solid coordination and strong cooperation among staff. If all staff work with integrity, he believes every task undertaken will be blessed.
As head of the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as the National Border Management Agency (BNPP), Tito hopes staff can strengthen their faith and use Ramadan to perform more good deeds. ‘I pray that all of us will receive blessings from Allah SWT in carrying out our duties,’ he said.
In the event, Tito and colleagues also handed over aid to orphans and several staff in need. The gathering was also attended by TP PKK Chairman Tri Tito Karnavian, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus, and other senior officials within the Ministry.
Separately, regionally, the government continues to ensure the stability of essential goods during Ramadan and up to Eid al-Fitr. One example is Penajam Paser Utara Regency, which routinely monitors the availability and prices of staple foods in markets.
