During the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriyah/2026 period, cash withdrawals from the Bank Indonesia Yogyakarta Representative Office (KPwBI DIY) to banks and the public totalled Rp4.71 trillion, equivalent to 94.39% of the projected figure of Rp4.99 trillion for the period. Compared to the same period the previous year, which recorded Rp4.6 trillion, the amount increased by 2.4%. Head of the Bank Indonesia Yogyakarta Representative Office, Sri Darmadi Sudibyo, in a written statement received by Media Indonesia in Yogyakarta on Friday evening, explained that the high volume of cash withdrawals from KPwBI DIY was due to increased demand for cash, the long holiday period, and the fulfilment of ATM needs during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. “As well as other factors, including the maintenance of economic activity and public liquidity,” he said. It was stated that as part of its commitment to ensuring the availability of fit-for-circulation Rupiah notes that are easily accessible to the public, Bank Indonesia also organised cash exchange activities under the tagline Semarak Rupiah Ramadan Dan Berkah Idulfitri (SERAMBI) 2026 at all Central Offices and Representative Offices of Bank Indonesia. In DIY, he continued, the SERAMBI 2026 activities were held from 23 February to 12 March 2026 with a total quota of 15,000 packages at strategic locations such as places of worship/mosques, public bank offices, and integrated cash exchange sites at various locations.
