Raline Shah Visits Banyuwangi, Praises Sunrise Panorama at Ijen Crater
Artis and model Raline Shah holidayed with her family in Banyuwangi for four days, from 12 to 15 June 2026. The actress, who has starred in numerous films, visited many destinations to explore the natural beauty of Banyuwangi, one of which was Kawah Ijen.
Arriving in Banyuwangi on Friday (12/6/2026), Raline visited the Osing Kemiren Traditional Tourism Village, known for the traditions and culture of the Osing tribe, as well as the Pendopo Sabha Swagata Blambangan, which features unique and historic architecture. That evening, she hiked up to enjoy the sunrise panorama at Kawah Ijen.
Raline began her ascent of Ijen at 3 a.m. alongside hundreds of other hikers. Upon reaching the summit, she headed straight to the sunrise point to take in the beauty of the sunrise from an altitude of 2,368 metres above sea level with her family. Many other hikers took the opportunity to take photos with the famously friendly artist. By 7 a.m., they descended from Mount Ijen, which is renowned for its Blue Fire phenomenon.
‘Extraordinary. I now understand why so many people from various countries come to Banyuwangi, one of the reasons being to see Ijen,’ Raline said in a written statement on Saturday (13/6/2026). She added that besides having many world-class destinations, the area also possesses a strong and well-preserved culture. ‘Not only is its nature beautiful and world-class, Banyuwangi also has strong arts and culture that continue to be preserved,’ she said.
Raline admitted that the experience of hiking Ijen was one of the most memorable moments of her first visit to the region nicknamed ‘The Sunrise of Java’. The artist, who also serves as Special Staff to the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs for Global Partnerships and Digital Education, said one of her duties is to strengthen global networks while introducing Indonesia’s potential to the international community. According to her, promoting Indonesia is not only done through diplomatic forums and digital technology, but also through the power of the creative industry, film, culture, and tourism. ‘So that everyone in every corner of the world knows who we are, knows our culture, knows our nature,’ Raline said.
After Kawah Ijen, Raline continued her exploration to a number of other natural tourist destinations in Banyuwangi.
