Rajiv Distributes 30,000 Staple-Food Packages
Rajiv, a member of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the NasDem Party, distributed 30,000 staple-food packages across Bandung Regency and West Bandung Regency. The effort was undertaken during Reses for the Third Session of the 2025-2026 period and began in Ciparay District, Bandung Regency. He was accompanied by AKB Putu Hendra Binangkari, the deputy chief of Bandung City Police. ‘I am presenting these staple-food packages in the hope that they help ease the burden on residents in Ciparay during the Ramadan month. May they be useful during this Ramadan season,’ Rajiv said on Wednesday 4 March. In addition to distributing aid, he stressed the importance of maintaining stable food supplies and prices ahead of Eid al-Fitr, noting that rising demand for staples such as rice, cooking oil, meat and eggs often triggers price increases that burden households. As a member of the commission overseeing agriculture, fisheries and food, Rajiv urged local governments and related agencies to ensure that food distribution proceeds without obstacles. ‘I have been entrusted by the people of Bandung Regency and West Bandung to monitor food availability here. I will convey the aspirations of the people to Jakarta,’ he said. In addition to the free packages, he also launched the Gerakan Pangan Murah (GPM) in the Margaasih district. This programme offers commodities at prices below market level, such as cooking oil at Rp15,700, SPHP rice at Rp54,000, and beef at Rp117,000. For voucher-holding residents, eggs normally Rp29,500 can be purchased for just Rp19,000. Notably, the GPM also involves local farmers from Ciwidey and Pasir Jambu to supply vegetables and chillies, all sold at Rp5,000. ‘As promised, we will hold the Gerakan Pangan Murah again so that people can buy affordable food ahead of Eid,’ he said. During the event, Rajiv reminded farmer groups that have received various assistance programmes, from agricultural equipment to seeds to bioflok, to use the aid responsibly and warned strongly against selling it on the market.
