Raising SEA Games funds
Raising SEA Games funds
From Suara Karya
I would like to make a suggestion about how to raise funds for the upcoming SEA Games. Instead of selling stickers, which can only be pasted onto something, why not sell postage stamps?
The post office should issue exclusive SEA Games stamps at the value of Rp 300 each but sell them to the public for Rp 1,000. In this way, the post office could collect Rp 700 for each stamp as a contribution to SEA Games. The stamps would need to be sold at a special counter.
Another way of raising SEA Games funds is by increasing the normal price of telephone cards, bearing the SEA Games symbol, by Rp 5,000.
Raising the tariff on advertisements in the media, the cinemas and open space media would be another way of raising funds. The extra tariff should be imposed on advertisers who intend to contribute to the SEA Games. For Rp 50 million worth of advertisements, for example, an extra Rp 5 million could be charged as a donation to the SEA Games. As a compensation, the advertiser could be given the right to put the SEA Games logo on the advertisement, with a sentence that reads: "In support of the SEA Games".
To ensure success in this fund-raising drive it would be necessary for the organizer of the games to cooperate with various agencies.
