Jakarta, VIVA – PT Pertamina (Persero) together with ASRI Energi Edukasi launched an energy transition education programme at SMAN 40 Jakarta on Monday, 11 May 2026. This activity aims to instill awareness of sustainable energy while strengthening students’ understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among the younger generation. VP CSR & SMEPP Management PT Pertamina (Persero), Rudi Ariffianto said through the Sekolah Energi Berdikari (SEB) programme, Pertamina encourages students to understand the importance of energy transition and mastery of STEM from an early age as preparation for the future energy sector. This is also underpinned by the fact that student interest in STEM in Indonesia is only 18 per cent. ‘Energy transition and the strengthening of STEM must be introduced early so that the younger generation is prepared and capable of adapting to changes in future energy,’ said Rudi. According to Rudi, Indonesia possesses great non-fossil energy potential, so early education becomes a strategic step to prepare future leaders, regulators, and players in the energy industry. This programme also aligns with Pertamina’s dual growth strategy, namely safeguarding national energy security through its core oil and gas business while accelerating the development of low-carbon energy and renewable energy sources (EBT). On the same occasion, Glory Oyong, Chairperson of the Berkat Budaya Sejahtera Foundation, said cross-sector collaboration is key to strengthening sustainability education for the younger generation. The initiative aligns with government aims to accelerate the national transition. Head of SMAN 40 Jakarta, Adriansyah, welcomed the cooperation and described the programme as relevant to the school’s commitment to achieving the Adiwiyata Mandiri award. ‘This is a good moment where environmental issues are combined with energy and STEM,’ he said. VP Corporate Communication PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron added that collaboration with the education sector is part of Pertamina’s commitment to building a future generation that is adaptable to the dynamics of global energy. ‘Through synergy among the education sector, communities, and stakeholders, Pertamina continues to foster a learning ecosystem that strengthens the capacity of the younger generation as the foundation of national energy resilience and the sustainability of future energy,’ Baron concluded.
