Raintre in Front of SMKN 3 Jakarta Collapses, Three Injured
A raintre tree in front of SMKN 30 Jakarta collapsed this morning. Three people sustained injuries after being struck by the tree.
“Three injured motorists who passed through have been transported to the Gunung Kelurahan Health Centre with minor injuries, and they have now returned to their respective homes,” said Kendar, Chief of Operations for the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Jakarta South Division, in a statement on Wednesday, 11 March 2025.
Kendar explained that the fallen tree had temporarily blocked access to the road. After being cleared, road access has since returned to normal.
“Currently, the road access can be used by both four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles,” he explained.
He continued that the school had initially heard cracking sounds from the tree before it fell. The school had subsequently reported the incident to the Parks Department requesting emergency intervention, but the tree collapsed shortly afterwards.
“At 07.00 am the school heard cracking sounds from the raintre tree, which had already rotted and aged. The school reported to the Parks Department requesting emergency handling. At 07.25 am the tree finally collapsed, striking the school bus shelter and passing motorcyclists,” he said.
The relevant authorities then took action to handle the fallen tree. By approximately 10.45 am, the tree had been evacuated and traffic had returned to normal.
Furthermore, Kendar stated that his agency recommends establishing a School Safety Zone (ZoSS). This measure is intended to ensure the area is safe, especially since it is located directly in front of the school.
“Our focus is on establishing a ZoSS,” he said.
