A landslide occurred on Jalan Kemuda, Desa Peguyangan Kangin, Kecamatan Denpasar Utara, on Tuesday (24/2/2026) at approximately 06:00 Wita. The landslide hit the library of SD Sathya Sai.

“The incident occurred before school activities had begun. The landslide caused the library wall to collapse, damaging several books and facilities inside,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Denpasar Police, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

Fortunately, there were no casualties. However, the damage to the library building is reported to be quite severe and requires further action.

Adi added that personnel from the Denpasar Utara Police immediately went to the location to conduct checks and secure the area. Officers also set up a police line around the affected area to prevent residents from approaching, as there are concerns about further landslides.

He added that the security measures were taken as a precaution, given that extreme weather with high rainfall intensity has been affecting the Denpasar area in recent days.

“This swift action is to ensure the situation remains safe and to avoid the risk of further landslides,” he said.

He appealed to the public to increase vigilance, especially for residents living in areas with unstable soil. Residents are also asked to immediately report to the authorities if they see signs of soil movement or cracks that could trigger a landslide.
